A prominent waste management company decided to start using InteractSMS in January 2010. Their goal was to improve communication with customers while reducing costs. They provide waste and recycling collection services to over 80,000 households and 15,000 commercial customers.
A prominent waste management company decided to start using InteractSMS in January 2010. Their goal was to improve communication with customers while reducing costs. They provide waste and recycling collection services to over 80,000 households and 15,000 commercial customers.
Unlike before, they are now able to quickly and cost-effectively inform customers of delayed services and highlight a reschedule date for completion of service. They can also be notified by SMS when collections are missed (due to parked cars blocking entrances for example) and inform them that they will try again later that day. They gained a 5% uplift in collections from Prepay customers once they started sending SMS reminders.
Operations also experienced a high increase in payment of aged debt and renewals with 40% of customers making payments on the same day as their SMS was sent out. Pre-pay customers also get their available credit on their weekly collection schedule SMS, prompting them to Top Up and present their bins for collection.
New customers were won through highly effective SMS sales campaigns. Not only could they be set up cheaply, quickly and efficiently but also had a very high sign up rate of 22%.
